Yes waterproofing can be applied direct to the surface of the panel providing the surface is even and clean. Ensure any rebates for brackets/conduits are stopped/plastered flush. Waterproofing membrane needs to be suitable for use on a timber substrate, check with the waterproofing membrane supplier.
Shower liners can also be glued directly onto the Durapanel.
